About

Concerts 4 Kids is the brainchild of Jonathan Ferrell.  Jonathan has been facing cancer head-on since he was 5 years old when his Dad was first diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2010.  His Mom was diagnosed in 2013 with breast cancer.  Over the past 13 years, Jonathan has faced challenges most people will not face in a lifetime.

Throughout his challenges, music has been a primary source of comfort, especially live music! Jonathan shares his love of music with his parents and became hooked on live music after attending his first Austin City Limits Festival at age 8.  Like his Dad always says, “Music soothes the soul!”.

Vision

Jonathan’s vision for Concerts 4 Kids is to bring live music to those that do not have the opportunity to attend a live concert due to hospitalization or limitations due to cancer treatments. This idea started when Jonathan was 10 when he helped arrange a concert for a young cancer patient at Dell Children’s Hospital.

Since then, he has helped other children who have faced cancer, either through a diagnosis or through a loved one, by offering his own experiences and support to those in need. Fueled by his desire to do more, Jonathan started Concerts 4 Kids with the hopes of bringing the music to those that do not have the ability to attend in person. With the help of the Austin music community, our goal is to bring music to anyone that requests a concert. We are working to host quarterly concerts at area children’s hospitals so that we can give everyone the opportunity to attend. Feel free to reach out for more information or to request a concert.

“Music has helped me tremendously during my parent’s cancer journeys and thought it be great if children who are in the hospital can have the ability to watch a live music performance to help them temporarily escape their own journeys. If I can make a difference in one persons life, then I will be happy!”
